Single-Ended Triode Stereo Integrated Amplifier

The Wright Audio Royale SE Series 2 Integrated Amplifier is an 'all-in-one', single-ended, triode-connected tube stereo integrated amplifier. Properly designed, amplifiers of the single-ended, triode category are characterized by a more vivid, clear and harmonically-rich sound than the higher-powered 'push-pull' amplifier type.

However, the Royale SE Series 2 Integrated Amplifier provides lower distortion, wider frequency response, greater clarity and more dynamics than other single-ended designs, even without overall loop circuit feedback. This is due to a careful selection of parts based on sound quality through extensive listening tests and with operating parameters chosen for lowest distortion. Like all other Wright Audio amplifiers, polypropylene and foil capacitors and transformers created for wide bandwidth and high resolution have been employed.

The tubes are 'self biased' and the amplifier requires no operating adjustments.

The Royale SE Series 2 Integrated Amplifier steps up from the Lolita Integrated Amplifier to include several additional features for the discriminating listener:

1.)   3 line inputs,
2.)   A preamplifier output with its own volume control for connecting to an external crossover / subwoofer amplifier to conveniently adjust the bass output from the Royale's front panel,
3.)   A power amplifier section input for use with an electronic crossover for bi-or tri-amplification.
4.)   Separate left and right channel power supply capacitor banks,
5.)   Enhanced cosmetics and
6.)   Expanded circuitry for more lifelike sound.

The Royale SE Series 2 Integrated Amplifier was created to be used with an external electronic crossover for bi- or tri-amplification purposes. In the biamplified configuration, the power amplification section of the Royale SE Series 2 Stereo Integrated Amplifier is used for the treble / midrange and a transistor power amplifier drives the woofers, thus bypassing the power-robbing internal crossover of the speaker system.

However, best results will be obtained in a tri- amplified system configuration with the Royale SE Series 2 Integrated Amplifier's stereo power amplifier section driving the tweeters, the Royale SE Stereo Power Amplifier driving the midrange and a transistor amplifier driving the (sub) woofers.

The result is far lower levels of distortion of all types and complete power transfer from the amplifiers directly to the speaker drive units for the highest efficiency. This means the entire system will sound much more 'alive' and play significantly louder with less strain, making the lower powered single-ended amplifier concept the best you've ever heard.

In addition, a tri-amplified system will allow the listener ultimate flexibility for correct octave to octave tonal balance by adjustment of the relative volume levels of the tweeter, mid-range and woofer to compensate for the room environment, program material (especially playing vinyl records) and general listening preferences.

Used in this manner, the Royale SE Series 2 Integrated Amplifier will suddenly involve you more intimately with the music you love.

FEATURES AND SPECIFICATIONS

* 8 watts per channel output. Recommended for use with speaker drivers having an efficiency rating of approximately 90 to 96 db / 1 watt / 1 meter.
* Frequency Response: 25 to 30,000 cycles, within 1 db.

Approved Replacement Tube Sets

All tubes are tested and screened for both AC and DC parameters under identical electrical operating conditions as is used in the amplifier to ensure quality.

The Royale SE Series 2 requires that the 6N1P have matched sections and the ECC81's and EL34 types all be matched pairs selected by Wright Audio for equal channel balance and full sonic imaging.

It is recommended that the 6N1P, ECC81 and 5AR4 tubes be replaced half as frequently as the EL34 / KT77 type tubes. The EL34 or KT77 pair should be changed approximately every 1500 hours.

Use of Tubes Not Approved

Single-ended amplifiers require tubes of the highest quality for amplifier reliability. Sadly, there are good-sounding tubes which may be used in push-pull amplifier designs but are not suitable for use in any single-ended amplifiers. Using them will cause the tubes to fail prematurely and likely cause damage to the amplifier.

Use only tubes recommended by Wright Audio. Evidence of the contrary causing damage to an amplifier is not covered by the Warranty.
